CN Labour Update

Dear Customers and Supply Chain Partners,

We would like to update you on CN’s collective bargaining with the Teamsters Canadian Rail Conference (TCRC-CTY), which represents approximately 3,200 of CN employees working as train conductors and railyard coordinators in Canada.

We are informing you that the TCRC has initiated strike action. We will return to negotiations today with the assistance of the federal mediators. Without our 3,200 professionally trained conductors, CN cannot maintain our high standards of service. Unfortunately, we are forced to wind down our rail operations as we do not have sufficient qualified managers to safely maintain normal freight operations during this strike.

We will keep you informed as events unfold.

A good logistics provider monitors developments continuously and identifies potential bottlenecks and viable solutions to deal with those. While some disruptions strike at little or no notice, other problems can be spotted in advance and plans developed how to deal with them.Sincerely, James Cairns, Senior Vice-President, Rail Centric Supply Chain and Keith Reardon, Senior Vice-President, Consumer Product Supply Chain
