Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan American Games Jul 10 2015

As you may be aware, the 2015 Pan Am Games and Parapan Am Games will be held in southern Ontario this summer. The Games will span a five week period from July 10th through August 15th and will be the largest event of its kind to be held in the region.

As part of the operations of the Games there will be some significant changes to traffic flow on streets and highways in the Greater Toronto Area and the surrounding regions where events are being held. This will affect the ability of commercial vehicles to operate efficiently while the games are in progress and the weeks prior to the opening of the Games and after they close.

We have prepared the below Information Bulletin to help create awareness of the affect that this event may have on our ability to operate at 'normal' service levels during the period when traffic restrictions are in effect. Rodair will continue to release updates, as required, as more details become available during the weeks leading up to the start of the Games.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is responsible for the overall co-ordination of transportation services and the operation of the provincial highway network. The city of Toronto and the other municipalities hosting events have responsibility for roadway operations and co-ordinating these with policing authorities and other municipal services.

Traffic flow restrictions and certain road closures will be in effect between June 26th and August 15th to accommodate The Games, which in turn will create severe congestion in parts of the region during this period. This will, of course, create significant challenges for all commercial vehicle operators in the region and may have an adverse impact on our normal service levels. As additional information becomes available, we will keep you informed.
